Jonelle Marie Carter - Je Mange Blog

Hi, I’m Jonelle... and this is my heart on a plate.

I believe food is one of the most universal love languages we have. Whether I’m plating up brunch for friends, wandering a spice market abroad, or recreating one of my grandmother’s recipes from a splattered old cookbook, food has always been where I feel most like myself. Je Mange (“I'm eating”) is my space to share stories — mine and others' — about the way food connects us, heals us, and helps us remember who we are.

This blog isn’t polished or precious. It’s personal. It’s the sound of laughter in a kitchen. It’s the handwritten note tucked into a recipe card. It’s the unshakable feeling that the table is where we all belong.

The Story of Je Mange

For years, I tucked this part of me away. As a speaker and coach, I’ve spent my days helping others reconnect with their purpose, but behind the scenes, I was writing about food. Quietly. Secretly. I created Je Mange as a private outlet, thinking it wasn’t “on brand.” But the truth is, it’s the most authentic part of me.

I come from a long line of food lovers. My grandmother trained with French chefs, and I was raised with the sacred belief that feeding people is one of the most powerful ways to love them. Every meal I make carries the imprint of someone I’ve learned from or loved deeply. And every story here is a reminder that we don’t need to choose between who we are and what we do, we get to be both.

So while this isn’t my “main gig," it’s part of my purpose. You can still find me on stages or coaching clients through transformation, but this is where I come to breathe, reflect, and remember.

If you’re here, I’m so glad you pulled up a chair.
